World Free of Nuclear Weapons.

This 9 Aug marked the 67th anniversary of the atomic blast in Nagasaki. This calamity had many dire consequences but most importantly posed a greater question in front of the world order. Is humanity safe with these nuclear weapons around ? When nuclear weapons have become an integral component of nearly every nations arsenal?

A must read article that i came across.
Here is the link

.A man witnessed two nuclear explosions

Enough was the bloodshed, enough were the wars.
Enough of the testing how much can the earth endure?
Enough of the threat that pertains near by
Enough of these red rivers and sooty sky.

So let's all come and live together as one.
Let's make this world free of nuclear weapon.

Impact of the nuclear weapons was felt worldwide.
When the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with their heart out, cried.
Humanity was pushed to the edge by their discovery.
Damage done to the cities was beyond any recovery.

So let's amass happiness not bombs, in tons.
Let's make this world free of nuclear weapons.

Millions of people were wiped with an explosion
All that the world witnessed was a mass human erosion.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki blew up with a hubble
"Little boy" and "Fat man" turned vivacious cities into rubble.

Generations of survivors still carry the pain.
View of destruction haunts them again and again.
Only way out of this peril is to renounce war.
Living with peace is only way to be secure.

So lets learn together to live under the sun.
Let's make this world free of nuclear weapon.

Visualizing their impact, we should also reduce their threats
This will happen only if countries remove their nuclear warheads.
Nuclear power shouldn't be just used to fight.
By tapping it, a millions homes we can light.

If  the Incident of Hiroshima and Nagasaki has taught us a lesson
Then let's make this world free of nuclear weapon.

  1. I think people tend to a thing like this no matter what. It's the opposite of ideal.

    1. Yea i know, but itsn't this obvious. Maybe the realist theory says something opposite to this like war is inevitable or so and so but nuclear war?

  2. I agree with the premise of your poem here....but the question is how could it ever be accomplished?

    1. Good question. I tried to answer this in my last stanza. Its very much possible quite evident from the actions of USA quite a while ago when it killed one of its atomic weapon. Maybe the world order or realists dont permit that but one day we have to think above all our narrow concerns for security.

  5. We all live in hope that sense might prevail in a world filled with chaos and disharmony, at most times.

  6. Destruction is all to prevalent in human nature from the infant breaking a toy car to a man willing to press a button it is a detached feeling and can we overcome it, Ash i like what you have written with a sense of closure that is not just an ideal but needed right now

  7. I'm alarmed at all who are throwing up their hands and saying, "What can we do?" We don't need Gandhi or Martin Luther King to stand up AS ONE and bring attention to the problem, to wit:

Fukushima has had THREE meltdowns, TWO MORE than Chernobyl. Back then, the American media was not as corporate-controlled, and they reported every detail of Chernobyl. Also not reported, the radioactive wild boars eating irradiated Chernobyl truffles and going nuts in Germany, storming restaurants, out of their heads.

THANK YOU for this post, and let's keep speaking out. I'm proud to meet you, Ash. PEACE, Amy
Here's my Fukushima poem, if you'd like to see it:

    1. Wer cannot end the war , thats the basic human nature however instead of weapons, we can utilise nuclear energy in many creative ways. I know its too idealistic but atleast we can try.:-)

  11. If we don't aspire to the ideal, we'll never even get close. If only both sides in conflict can learn to listen and talk...conflict at any level.
